Getting Started with Teams Phones

Summary

Introduction to Teams phones and how to use them

Body

Overview

USI IT is transitioning the entire campus from Cisco to Teams phones. We aim to complete this transition by the end of July 2025.

Teams phones offer great benefits such as allowing you to use your USI phone from any internet connected device including smartphones, tablets, and personal computers.

What are my options for obtaining a Teams phone?

IT will provide either a physical desk phone or a headset for each phone line to replace your current phones.

The options that IT will provide are:

  • Yealink MP54 E2 physical desk phone
  • Poly Blackwire 3320 USB headset

It is also possible to opt out of IT providing you a device, if you choose to use a different headset (at you or your department's expense), or if you want to just use the Teams app on your cell phone or tablet.

If someone wants both a physical desk phone and a headset, or wants a headset other than the one we will provide, the department will have to order the headset.
