Respondus LockDown Browser Overview

Overview

The instructions below detail how to install and use the Respondus Lockdown Browser.

Steps - Installing the Respondus LockDown Browser from Blackboard

  1.  Login to USI by going to https://portal.usi.edu
  2. Click on "Blackboard" on the left hand side of the screen

3. Click on "Institution Page" on your Blackboard side menu.

4. Scroll to the "Respondus LockDown Browser" section at the bottom of the page and click on the download link.

Steps - Using the Respondus Lockdown Browser

  1. Open the Respondus Lockdown software.
  2. Log in using your USI account.
  3. Select a test from the course.
  4. If the LockDown Browser is not installed and the test requires it, you will see the message "Assessment Security - You need Respondus LockDown Browser to complete this assessment" with a link to the download page where it can also be installed from if you have not already done so.
  5. If the LockDown browser is installed correctly, it will launch automatically upon selecting and starting the test.

Additional Info

The Respondus LockDown Browser only needs to be installed once per computer or device. Please note Respondus Lockdown will not work with Chrome Books or IOS.
