Block Email Senders or Domains in the Web Version of Outlook

Overview

If you are receiving unwanted mail (SPAM or otherwise) from a particular address or domain, you can automatically send those messages to your Outlook Junk Email folder. Microsoft considers the Junk Email folder to be a first order mitigation solution for SPAM and malicious mail. For this reason, the Junk Email folder should generally be ignored. You should only check to the Junk Email folder if you are expecting a message that is not appearing in your Inbox.

Follow these steps to block specific sending addresses or domains from delivering future messages to your Outlook email Inbox.

Environment

These instructions apply specifically to the web version of Outlook. https://outlook.office365.com If you block unwanted email in the web version, it will also be blocked in the desktop version of Outlook.

Steps

1. In the Outlook Web Client, select the settings gear in the top right 

2. In the settings window, click "Mail" and then "Junk email"

3. Find the "Blocked Senders and Domains" section.  Click "Add, "type in a full email address or a domain (ex. JS@Newport.com OR Newportnwws.com), and press Enter.

4. Click Save to save any changes made to your blocked senders list
