Overview
This article demonstrates how to set up the Blackboard Ultra Gradebook (formerly Grade Center in OCV) to drop a grade from a group of scores, such as dropping the lowest quiz score from a semester’s worth of grades. You have to categorize the group, crate a calculated item, and configure the setting.
Before You Begin
To drop a low or high score from a group of items, first create a distinct category for those items.
Steps
- From your Blackboard Ultra course, click Gradebook.
- To create a category, click on the Gradebook Settings cog. This looks like a small gear symbol on the right side of the gradebook.
- Scroll down to Grade Categories. To add a new category, click Add New Category, or use one of the default categories.
- Make sure that each assignment that is part of this grouping, of which you want to drop a grade, is categorized in that group. To do this, you can return to your Gradebook, click on the column icon, and click Edit. In the settings view the current Grade Category.
- Go back to the Gradebook, select Overall Grade and click Edit. Find the category that you want to drop scores from and click Edit the Calculation Rules.
- Click Enable to turn on category calculation rule. Select Drop Scores and define how many will be dropped and if they are the highest or lowest scores. Click Continue.
- The Category will now reflect the current calculation rule that you have set.
- Click Save before navigating from the page.
