How to Set/Change the Personal Email Address Tied to my USI Account

Summary

How to tie a personal email address to your USI account to be used for self-service password resets.

Body

Overview

USI has a self-service password reset system in place. This self-service system uses your personal email to allow you to reset your password without needing to contact the IT Service Desk.

To use this, you need to have a personal email address on file at USI. Your personal email address needs to be an external email account - it cannot be an @usi.edu or @eagles.usi.edu address. If you don’t have a personal email account anywhere, these are free through services such as gmail.com and mail.yahoo.com.  You are not required to set up a personal email address - however, if you don’t, you will not be able to use the self-service password reset.

Steps

1. Log into the USI Portal and open the Self-Service Tool.

2. Click "Personal Information" under the "All Users" tab.

3. Click the Pencil icon below "Personal email address" in the "Email" section.

  • If there isn't a "Personal Email Address" under the Email section, click on "Add New" at the top-right of the Email section.
  • Click on "Select Email Type" and search Personal. Click on the "Personal email address" option.

4. Click on "Enter Email Address" and type in your personal email.

  • If there is an email address already, click on that and erase it before typing in your email.

5. Click "Update".

  • If there is no "Update" button, click "Add" instead.
